Checked Out Project (2007) changed from Read / Write to Read Only

One of our PM's (owner of project) running Project Pro 2007 checked this out
to work on over the weekend. Whilest "Working Off-line" in Read / Write mode
he made changes to the schedule on a number of occasions, these were saved.

While still Working Off-line, the locally cached project has decided to
change to Read Only.

Now back in the office, the Project is still Checked Out to him, he is
unable to Check it back in. Errors are being reported in Project Pro when
synchronizing.

I've yet to Force a Check In of the Project not wanting to loose the locally
cached version as this has many hours of work done to it.

Can the local cached version be forced to Read / Write?

Is this a known bug?

We're about to go live with this product, and need to have confidence staff
aren't going to loose work.

thanks

Sadly enough, we ran into this problem in a Project Server 2007 open
enrollment class last week. This is one of many issues with Project Server
2007. I would recommend that the PM save this project as an .mpp file by
the same name. Then you, the Project Server administrator, should check in
the project and delete it. The PM should then import the project back into
the Project Server database and give it the original name for the project.
Perhaps the others have some ideas of how to work around this issue. Hope
this helps.
