checking for positive or negative numbers

I have three columns in excel

A B C
1 Today Yesterday
2 30 45 ?
3 20 35 ?
4 32 12 ?
5 20 8 ?


In column "C", I would like a formula show show the difference between "B" & "A". I need to see the value difference, and if greater or less,to show improvements or not.

What is wrong with simply subtracting one from the other?
