Checking names incorrect>>>

MS news

Hi,

It seams that the Check Names function in Outlook (2002) is not working
properly: if I type any email address containing <@> and <.> signs in the
"to", "cc" or "bcc" fields and than press Check Names button, the name is
underlined, although it doesn't exist in any address book (e.g. (e-mail address removed),
(e-mail address removed)). This gives a false impression to my users that the names was checked
when actually wasn't at all. Is there any fix for this?

Thanks,
Dragan Misina

This is by design. Outlook does not validate SMTP-format addresses against your address book. Check Names is designed to take names -- not addresses -- and look up the corresponding address.
