Choose a digital certificate pops up when trying to save excel file from browser

Hi all,

Got a bit of a problem that I can't seem to get to the bottom of.

I have a web page that builds up HTML in the format of an excel spread
sheet.

This is then sent down to the browser with a Header Content type of
"application/vnd.ms-excel"
With a content disposition of "inline;filename=blah.xls".

When the save as box pops up I select open, this then opens the spread
sheet inline in IE and display's the content in the excel active-x
control within the browser, this is all good and what I expect to
happen.

Just to add that the URL that is serving up the page that generates
the spread sheet is served from an SSL site.

When I try to save the excel file via file save from the IE menu, I
get the Choose a digital certifcate dialog poping up, asking me to
choose a certificate but no certifcates are in the dialog to choose, I
then have to hit okay or cancel on 6-12 times to get the save as
dialog to appear, I can then save the file as normal.

This doesn't happen if I access the same URL outside of SSL.

Does anybody know why I'm getting the Choose a digital certifcate
dialog?

I can serve up PDF files using the same process (under SSL) and these
work fine.

I've spend some time googling around, and not really found much in the
way of an answer apart from one other person who posted about the same
problem but never got a response.

Thanks for any help you might be able to provide.

Regards,

Andy R.
