Circular References

Having problems with circular references in complex financial
spreedsheets. Can anyone suggest a good way of dealing with them and
techniques to eliminate them. I have read the microsoft help, but it
doesn't help me improve the design of the spreadsheet.

Thanks in advance

Not an expert (XL2k) and have only used the functions to see what they'd
do but:
Under "Tools->Auditing" there are some tools such as "Trace Precedents,
Trace Dependants" etc that will show you what each formula is looking
at.
I've not used them because typically my Worksheets aren't that complex
and it's relatively easy to find the error of my ways,
summing a column and including the formula cell in the list, for ex.

You can also use the Circular reference Toolbar. If you don't see it, then hit
View / Toolbars / Customise and select it.
