citation problem in MS word

H

Hamid Salehi

Hi
I have a strong problem with MS word in reference tab. When I want to create
new citation or ‎update previously created sources, this ‎message appeared
"Invalid source specified". I tried to ‎change all settings but I couldn't
solve the problem. I reinstalled the software again and again, but ‎the
‎problem remained! ‎
Please help me by this e-mail address (e-mail address removed) ‎

Are the sources actually inside your document and not just inside your
master list? Click on "Manage Sources" and make sure your citations are
listed in the RIGHT hand column. If they aren't, you can copy them from the
left column (your master list).

If that doesn't work, make sure your in-text citations refer to valid
sources. Put your mouse over one of the existing sources, right click and
choose "Toggle Field Codes". You should see something like "{ CITATION Arr98
\l 1033 }". The "Arr98" is the unique tag of the source the citation is
referring to. Once again, go to "Manage Sources". At the top click "Sort by
Tag" and check if there is actually a source with that tag in the right
column.

If all that is working, have you in any way changed one of the predefined
bibliography styles? If so, the formatting of the styles might be no longer
correct.

Reinstalling/repairing hardly ever solves problems. Always uninstall, reboot
and then reinstall.
