Clean install - what do I need to keep?

B

browniebodrum

I'm doing a clean install of XP on my laptop and want to make sure I've
backed everything up.

In Outlook, I've remembered I need to back up the registry so I can recover
my Outlook 2003 categories later, but where are 'rules' kept, and also can I
back up my (numerous) email account user names and passwords or will I have
to re-create them manually afterwards? Anything else I'm likely to have
forgotten?

In Word, I know I'll have to back up the template to recover my Autotext
entries - anything else I need to keep, to restore settings I've
created/customised?

Sorry for possible cross-postings, I've found a lot of stuff on this topic,
naturally, but didn't manage to track down a comprehensive list of everything
in one place.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, good point, though, thanks! ;-)

We see that issue brought up far too often. Glad to hear you're okay there.

Anything else you can think of? Any ideas on the rules/email
(re)configuration?

Know what your settings are, of course.
Back up all of your files.
Are you saving your emails or starting fresh?

I'm keeping everything. But I know that not everything is saved within
Outlook.pst, hence my questions about rules and email accounts.
