clean the html?

I have a 500 page site made with FP2002. I want to clean the HTML. I tried
to do it with Dreamweaver MX, but Dreamweaver locked up. What next?

Did you use Dreamweavers clean HTML or the frontpage migration kit
extension at:

I tried to convert the site to DW because everyone says DW is the best. But
it could not convert the 550 pages. After a time it froze. I had to
ctrl-alt-del to get out.

as an aside, how do you do things like FP "shared borders" in DW? Does it
have a way to make a change on one file and have it reflected on all 550
pages? Is the only way an include file?

i'm beginning to wonder if the conventional wisdom about the superiority of
DW isn't like most conventional wisdom -- not entirely trustworthy.
