Click From List (again)

This si a repeat becauise I could not find the original or a response on the
group.

A cell on a spread sheet has (mysteriously) acquired a reaction which as
far as I can see is "Click From List"
e.g when I enter a it provides the entry Annual>
o Owner

I can find no way to turn this off .
[or modify the list if I wanted to
nor can I find a way to turn it on if I wanted it!]

Look for the letter "o" under "Replace"

If found, what is the "With"

If no joy...........you mention "a cell".

Is it just the one cell that displays this behaviour?

Are you just typing the letter "o" or "=o" which could mean that "o" is a name
referring to ="Owner"

Hi again Gordon - GOT IT!
What is actually happening is:
In any cell - if you enter a character the sheet looks at all text entries in that specific column.
If one exists with the initial character the same as the one typed then the sheet provides an "AutoComplete"
Thus, if you enter the text 'Rubbish' in a column then in an empty cell in that column you type R it expands to Rubbish
It is specific to columns (not rows)
So - you were right - it's on the Tools menu - Switch Off "AutoComplete"
It doesn't seem possible to switch this on or off for specific cells.

If you right click a cell then select 'Pick From List' is displays a list of the text entries in the specifc column [if a word appears more than once in the column it only appears once in the 'Pick From List'

I cannot see any facility to stop this specific AutoComplete.
[Well maybe you could create a custom list for the specific cell making the custom list empty - what a rigmarole!]
[Menu item Data > validation MAY also be relevant - but setting it to 'any value' doesn't stop this autocomplete]

Well - thanks for your responses to my posting.

Thanks for the feedback Jim

Got thrown off course by your reference to "a cell on a spreadsheet"

Assumed it was only "one cell"
