Click to open but minimizes

Bill

When I click on an item in the inbox - it opens and minimizes into the lower
task bar. To open I have to click on the item in the task bar or double click
or select "enter" on the item in the in box to open. Untill yesterday - it
always opened with a click or enter on the item while in the inbox.

What can I do to return to the previous process?

Thanks

You will need to either select Normal Window or Maximized. Your choice. Do
NOT FORGET to hit Apply on the bottom of the box after you make your
selection

I have been batteling with the same problem for weeks and finally found
someone with the same but
Where do I find the below mentioned to change the minimize function?
Outlook\Properties\Shortcut \Run

I found it by clicking the "Start" button in the lower left of the screen on
the task bar - right clicking on the Outlook icon. You will see Properties at
the bottom of the display window - clcik there - click on the tab labeled
"Shortcut" and then look for the field labeled "Run:" with a drop down window
next to it.

Having said all that - along with selecting "Maximized" - clicking on
"Apply" - then "OK" . . . it still didn't correct the issue.

When an item is selected it still minimizes directly to the lower task bar.
I can click on it from the task bar or click on the item again in main window
and open it - but that's the original problem that I was asking aboaut <sigh>

Is there any more suggestions from those in the know?

Hello There

I have figured out what to do from your advise. thanks.
But that actually is not my problem!!
The problem lies with the emails you clcik on in microsoft outlook.
When I click on a new message or saved message,or any message in any of my
folders in outlook, the message opens but loses focus, i.e. opens behind the
outlook program, (can see the message if I make outlook smaller). It has
focus as it opens and then dissappears behind, focus somehow is being set
back to the outlook program as soon as the message opens.
I have run virus checks, reloaded outlook and checked my mouse settings,
still to no avail.
Any help would be great.
THanks
Becky

Did you ever have any luck in discovering a solution. You have described,
better than I did, what the situation is. The item doesn't actually minimizes
as I thought earlier. The item opens briefly in the foreground in front of
the main Outlook window. The item is then moved behind the main Outlook
window.

I don't know how this changed nor can I discover how to change it back. If
anyone has any suggestions, I'm sure that Becky and I would appreciate the
information.

Thanks

Bill

Hello Bill
Glad to see I'm not the only one.
I tried uninstalling microsoft office, deleting all files that are left
behind after the uninstall, and then reinstalled, this got rid of the problem
for about day, there must be a file or sme type that gets corrupted to
change the focus settings, what is is I have no idea!!

I'm suffering from the same problem as Becky. I have a new computer (2 weeks)
old at my office where the problem persists. At home, dialing into the same
"Outlook Exchange Server" I do not have the problem. I haven't been as
annoyed yet to do an uninstall-install, but just enough to now start seeking
advice. Here's what you MS folks should be pondering, "What setting do these
users have that's causing the main outlook window to regain focus after
opening a child-window (like double-clicking on an email)?"
I thought it might be something like "tools/options/email options/after
moving or deleting an open item" - but to no avail.

Hello, well I am having the same issue with windows 2000 office 2000 on a
clients machine. I suspect that this was caused by some sort of windows
update. Did all of you start experiencing this issue over the last two or
three weeks? I still have not found a solution but I will continue looking.

good news and bad news...
my problem is fixed! but I don't know how. my machine is a new dell GX. I
tried updating the video drivers earlier (2 weeks ago) but that didn't change
anything. then all of the sudden new messages are focused this week. no rhyme
or reason.

This helped when I open an email message, but how do I get it to open a
calendar event minimized also? When I go to my calendar, double click to open
a meeting or other event, it opens it maximized.
Thanks
