Clip and paste commands aren't working; cannot copy and paste; ca.

Can anyone explain what to do to restore the ability to clip and paste text?
Suddenly I've lost this feature,noy judy in MS Word, but on email (AOL), and
in PowerPoint, etc. Doesn't work to use CTRL C and CTRL V, or the clip and
paste icons on the toolbar. Can highlight text and "cut" but it won't paste
in another spot. Can't get the text back except with the edit/undo button.
Tried the "repair" feature of troubleshooting, using the MS XP Standard CD
Rom. Doesn't matter whether I'm using the keyboard on the laptop or a
separately installed keyboard. Using XP Home 2002 OS.
Need help!

We saw this at work a few months back and it was a virus causing the problem.
Have you virus checked your PC lately and is your antivirus software up to
date?

Specifically, the Blaster worm causes this problem. See
