Clip Art Gallery

I recently Office 2008 for Mac. It has been a little buggy, but overall, it has worked great. I noticed one day when I went to open the Clip Art Gallery in Word, Excel and PowerPoint that there was a problem. I get the following error message from the Office program:

Hello,

I am also experiencing this issue with the Clip Gallery. I've tried
updating to SP1 and then reinstalling Office 2008 altogether (as well
as re-applying the SP1 patch). The machine it is on is an iMac with
Leopard 10.5.4 and up to date patches. What do you recommend I do

Are you sure your OS is not 10.5.3? Is the iMac Intel- or PPC-based? Can
you send me the crash log? Do you have a Personal folder under Microsoft
Office 2008->Office->Media->Clipart?

It appears you have removed MERP (Microsoft Error Reporting Protocol) from
your system which may cause issues. To resolve this issue you may want to
try to re-install Office 2008 and the SP1 (and just released 12.1.1).

Hi Eric,

I walked through the suggested steps and am still having issues with
opening the clip gallery. I reinstalled Office 2008 from disk,
applied the 12.1.0 patch, applied the 12.1.1 patch, and the XML
conversion update that came out as well. I should also note that we
downloaded the installer image from the volume licensing site and
burned it to disk for the first Office 2008 installer. The error
output states that an image is not found. Does that reference the
MERP framework or is it looking for something else? There is a path to
MERP 2.0 located at /Library/Application Support/Microsoft/MERP2.0/.
Also, I'm looking at the Clipart folder and there are spaces in front
of some of the folder names. Check it out here:

Changing the folders to remove the spaces did not work.

You should see the file merp.framework under the Microsoft Office
2008->Office folder. What's under your /Library/Application
Support/Microsoft/MERP2.0 folder? The spaces are expected here. It appears
difficult to reproduce this issue with the given information. The Clip
Gallery shouldn't unexpected quit when launching from Word/Excel/PowerPoint
2008. Were you ever able to get the Clip Gallery to launch? Is this
consistently crashing for you? Does the Microsoft Error Reporting tool
launch when you get a crash? Other ways to get images into your program is
to drag images into your document, insert them via the Insert menu, or to
check out the Toolbox->Object Palette->Clip Art (does Clip Art show up there
for you?) and Photos tabs. I hope this helps! =)

Hi Mike,
It appears you have removed MERP (Microsoft Error Reporting Protocol) from
your system which may cause issues. To resolve this issue you may want to
try to re-install Office 2008 and the SP1 (and just released 12.1.1).

Are you sure your OS is not 10.5.3? Is the iMac Intel- or PPC-based? Can
you send me the crash log? Do you have a Personal folder under Microsoft
Office 2008->Office->Media->Clipart?

I am also experiencing this issue with the Clip Gallery. I've tried
updating to SP1 and then reinstalling Office 2008 altogether (as well
as re-applying the SP1 patch). The machine it is on is an iMac with
Leopard 10.5.4 and up to date patches. What do you recommend I do

I was able to get to the Clip Gallery from the toolbox. The errors
throws when I go to Insert -> Picture -> Clip Art... Other responses
are below. If you need additional information please let me know.
The Clip Gallery launches from an install on a PowerMac G4 we have

You should see the file merp.framework under the Microsoft Office
2008->Office folder.  What's under your /Library/Application
Support/Microsoft/MERP2.0 folder?  

The files "Microsoft Error Reporting" and "Microsoft Ship Asserts"

The spaces are expected here.  It appears

difficult to reproduce this issue with the given information.  The Clip
Gallery shouldn't unexpected quit when launching from Word/Excel/PowerPoint
2008.  Were you ever able to get the Clip Gallery to launch?

The Clip Gallery hasn't launched from the above programs.

 Is this

consistently crashing for you?  

The Clip Gallery crashes but the other programs still function.

Does the Microsoft Error Reporting tool

launch when you get a crash?

Yes, the pasted output from the MERP is listed below from my replies.

 Other ways to get images into your program is

to drag images into your document, insert them via the Insert menu, or to
check out the Toolbox->Object Palette->Clip Art (does Clip Art show up there
for you?) and Photos tabs.  

Doing it from the Toolbox works.

Hi Eric,

I walked through the suggested steps and am still having issues with
opening the clip gallery.  I reinstalled Office 2008 from disk,
applied the 12.1.0 patch, applied the 12.1.1 patch, and the XML
conversion update that came out as well.  I should also note that we
downloaded the installer image from the volume licensing site and
burned it to disk for the first Office 2008 installer.  The error
output states that an image is not found.  Does that reference the
MERP framework or is it looking for something else? There is a path to
MERP 2.0 located at /Library/Application Support/Microsoft/MERP2.0/.
Also, I'm looking at the Clipart folder and there are spaces in front
of some of the folder names.  Check it out here:

Changing the folders to remove the spaces did not work.
