Is the clip organizer searching in "web collections"? You can find that by
clicking the dropdown in the "search in" box in the Clipart pane. Or just
select "all collections" (everywhere) there.

Empty your temporary cache, in Internet Explorer, Tools, Internet Options,
delete, delete files.

There should be three collections in the Organizer, My, Office & Web.

Take a look at your firewall, be certain it is allowing you access to the Office
site. Can you go straight to the Office site, by-passing the Organizer?

The problem remains.
I have deleted all history. (I didn't see any option where I can empty the
temp cache. I'm using IE 8.) My Windows firewall allows Outlook to
communicate. I can go straight to the Office site you refer to below. And I
downloaded a Clip Art item but when the Microsoft Clip Organizer was opened
there was no object available. Maybe a connection to the other problem?

I haven't installed IE8 yet. Are you saying there is no way to delete temporary
files? It would be in General tab, in IE7 there is a button "Delete...". Click
the button and there is the option to delete files.
The downloaded clips are stored in a folder in My Pictures, named Microsoft Clip
Organizer.

Could be your Organizer is corrupt or broken. The Organizer has its own detect
and repair in the Help menu. You can also compact the Organizer from the Tools
menu. If that doesn't work:

Rename the Mstore10.mgc file to Mstore10.mgc old. The Organizer will create a
new catalog the next time it is opened.
The file is in a folder similar to this (hidden)
C:\Users\<<user>>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Clip Organizer (Vista)
C:\Documents and Settings\<<user>>\Application Data\Microsoft\Clip Organizer
(XP)

The repair of Organizer didn't solve the problem. But when I renamed
mstore10.mgc everything seems to be working fine again. Thank you!
