When a clipart is inserted in a document, it can only be
seen when previewing the document. Also, right clicking
on the picture does not give you the option to format the
picture. The picture can be edited, but not formatted.
It also acts as though the graphic is an object, not a
picture. How can I correct this problem?

Being a clairvoyant, I'm going to know that you are using Word 2003. You
need to use Help, Word Updates and update your installation.

Tools | Options | View:

1. Check the box for "Drawing objects."

2. Clear the check box for "Picture placeholders."
