Clip Gallery database fails to load

Maggie Wolfe

I can't access the clip art gallery that is part of office any more. When I want
to insert>picture>clip art I get an error message:
"Attempt to open database file Clip Gallery User Database failed"

It makes it really hard to find images when I have to look through them in
the finder, and can't use the database search functions.

I believe this started happening after someone sent me a clip art file that
was added to the database - which opened and showed the new art at first,
but stopped working later. That's the only thing I can think of. I suspect
the database is corrupted now, and I couldn't find any ways to rebuild it like
in Entourage.

Any ideas?

Hi Maggie,

Please always state your OS and Word/Office version numbers when posting!

Try this: With Word quit, trash the Clip Gallery User Database. Depending
on your version, it should be in your Microsoft Office folder. A new one
will be created when you relaunch Word.

Oops, how embarassing. Panther - 10.3.5, Office 2004. Thank you - that
worked - though I had a hard time finding the database. It was in a folder
in my clipart folder in my microsoft folder. Well hidden. It was in a folder
called personal in the clipart folder, along with clipart. Anyway, thanks!!!

Maggie
