clip organizer error

Lois

I am still getting this error 0x80004002 after trying to use clip art in
Word. My mdac is 2.7 RTM. I have found in the result from running the
checker that some of my results are "expecting version 2.81" I have tried to
install 2.81, but nothing changes. I am running Windows XP SP2 with all
appropriate updates. My office is also up-to-date.

I also tried in the RUN command regsvr32 ole32.dll. Tried repair Office
2003. My DataAccess key in the registry as FullInstallVer value 2.81.1117.0

Any other suggestions? thanks in advance

Some things to try:
Compact the Organizer. Open the Organizer from Start, Microsoft Office Tools,
Clip Organizer, when the Organizer opens, tools, compact. There is a detect and
repair option in the help menu.

Have you emptied your temporary Internet Files? In Internet Explorer, tool,
Internet Options, delete files.

Your Organizer can become corrupt.
Rename the Mstore10.mgc to Mstore10.old. The Organizer will create a new catalog
the next time you open the program.
The Mstore10.mgc is in a folder similar to this (hidden)
C:/Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\Microsoft\Clip Organizer.

I tried all of your suggestions. Oddly, there is no file by the name of
Mstore10.mgc.
I do have Mstore10.AW, Mstore.exe, Mstores.dll, Mstore10.CHM,
Mstore10.AW_1033,Mstore10.CHM_1033.

I also uninstalled office 2003 and reinstalled it. Have reinstalled all the
service packs and everything. When I attempted to repair the organizer I got
the same error message as I had before. Any other thoughts about this? Thnks

Are you looking in the right place? The file is in a folder.
C:/Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\Microsoft\Clip Organizer.
The files you quote here are system files.

Move your temporary folder in Internet Explorer. Move it anywhere, Windows will
create a new one. In Internet Explorer, tools, Internet Options, move folder.

I did a search on the entire pc for the file. This pc was Vista and now
downgraded to WinXP. There is a shortcut to Clip Organizer in Microsoft
Office Tools. This brings up the screen, but with the same error as trying
to use it in Word. I have an entire Lab (this is a school district) that I
had to downgrade to XP. The class needs the clipart so I am getting deperate
for answers. Hopefully this is not something caused by residue from Vista.
There is no file on the pc with that name. I also checked another one in the
lab. Same thing there.

Best I can offer is to repair your Office installation.

Go to the control panel, Install or Remove programs, scroll down to office,
click change, see if you ever installed the Organizer. Otherwise do a repair.

I did not know you had Vista, the MStore.mgc file is about in the same place in
Vista as it is in XP. I hope you didn't remove Vista simply because of the
Missing Organizer.
C:\Users\<name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Clip Organizer

Mary, I just wanted to say thanks for all ur help. Unfortunately, there is
no folder called Clip Organizer anywhere on the pcs. There is a shortcut in
MS Office Tools and that's it. I hope this doesn't mean reformatting the
drive and starting over. Thanks again, Lois

Have you inserted the Office disk and installed the Organizer?
It would in the "Office Shared Features" menu. Run all from my computer.

I went back into the installer and tried this also. Still not able to use
the Clip Organizer.

Do you have the second service pack for Office?

I installed all Service Pack 3 for office thinking that might help. When I
run the component checker for the version of MDAC it returns with 2.7 RTM.
I have found in the result from running this checker that some of my results
are "expecting version 2.81" I have tried to
install 2.81, but I get an error that it is "not for this version of
Windows". I checked the installer and it says it is for xp. Do you know if
there is a way to downgrade this MDAC? Maybe if I could get it back to 2.7,
it would solve my problem. I do believe that this MDAC is a big part of this
issue I am experiencing. One place says is needs 2.81 and all I have is
2.7...but it won't let me update it to 2.81. Catch 22.
We don't use roaming profiles here. The error is 0x80004002.
