"Clip Organizer" - Remove? Disable? Shut off? ...

OK, this is why I seldom use any of MS's "features".

While making a Word doc for something, I went to add some
clip-art.
I got the dialogue box asking if I wanted the Clip
Organizer to Catalog my clip-art.
I figured: "what the heck, it will index my clips and
I'll just use this to easily find clip-art in Word or
PPT."
Cripes. Was I ever wrong.

The "Organizer" catalogued not only clip-art, but every
last jpg, mp3, gif, tiff, on and on and on.
That's like 120,000 friggin' files on my system. Talk
about overkill.

I now have two issues:
1) The catalog is pathetically slow to load and search.
It's more useless than the way I used to manually
navigate my file system.
2) In Word: Under the "Insert" menu item, the "Picture >
From File..." function is now DISABLED!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't navigate to the file I need.

What I want to do:
1) REVERT my Office suite to the way it was before this
cataloging screwed it up.
(In other words- I want to be able to "Picture > From
File..." again.)
2) PREVENT the Clip Organizer from running again.
(Or at least make it shut up so it doesn't bug me
when I go to insert clip-art)

PLEASE HELP!

Thanks,
-Drew

=======================================
1) Try compacting the main Catalog -Tools| Compact
2) Try a Detect and Repair on Office

1) If the above answer don't resolve your problems then your only option
will be to reinstall office.
2) Reinstall office doing a custom option and select not to install clip
organizer.
I believe there is a checkbox you can select in the catalog dialog to
not ask again. If you reinstall with clip organizer there is an option under
the file menu that allows you to Add clips on your own instead of
automatically so you don't get ever image and media file on your computer
added.
