Clipart and charts show only outline

Whenever I paste clip art or a chart into a document all I can see is the
border. I right click on it and there is no propperties selection. If I
change the view to Full Screen Editing the picture and chart is there.
How can I see the images in the normal view?

In Word 2007, click on Office Button | Word Options | Display |
check the boxes for "Print drawings created in Word" and "Print
background colors and images" | Advanced | scroll down to the
"Show document content" section, check the boxes for "Show
background colors and images in Print Layout view" and "Show
drawings and text boxes on screen", and uncheck the "Show picture
placeholders" box | OK.

In Word 2003, click on Tools | Options | View tab | check the
"Drawings" box and uncheck the "Picture placeholders" box | Print
tab | check the boxes for "Drawing objects" and "Background
colors and images" | OK.

I'm using Word 2007 SP2:
I followed your advice. I can see images in Print Layout, in Web view, but
Not in Outline, nor in Draft.

If I save the document as a .DOC, then *immediately* the images become
visible in all views, including outline and draft. Reopen is not required.
This is crazy.
