On my new Vista Home Premium PC (Office 2003) I'm not able to download
clipart items to the hard disk on my PC.
After downloading an item it is opened by Paint with loss of colors etc.,
and this is the only option given.
Is there a new procedure to obtain ( and store)clipart in a simple and
adequate way like it happened in XP?
Thanks for any help an/or advice.

HanLee

Did you install the Clip Organizer when you installed Office 2003? Vista will
not open .wmf images nor will Vista create thumbnails for .wmf, you will need a
viewer such as www.Irfanview.com (free). Get the plug-ins too, some formats need
the plug-ins. Do you have a folder in My Pictures called Microsoft Clip
Organizer?
What happens when you have an Office application open and you go to insert,
picture, clipart? Does the Organizer appear with search options?

The clip Organizer was installed with Office 2003.
In Pictures I created a folder called Microsoft Clip Organizer.
There's no problem in inserting clipart in an Office application and the
Organizer appears with search options.
But, if I want to store a clipart item on my PC , for later use, it can't
be found on the PC or it is stored with a black background.
It was quite easy to save the clipart item in XP but since Vista it has
become a struggle!
I've been trying to solve the problem for days and don't know what to do to
get this thing right.

Only when you try to use a .wmf in Paint will the background be black. Paint
converts the .wmf to a .gif. All the clipart you download from Office will be
on your hard drive in the Clip Organizer folder. Go to the clipart web page,
choose the items you want to save, instead of opening, save to your hard drive.

When you insert clipart in an Office program, the clipart is placed in your
document and not saved on your system. For the clipart to be saved on your
system you need to download from the Office site.
