Close out tasks to updates

We are on Project 2007 and our PM would like to close out a schedule to
updates in PWA. We found the option in PWA to close tasks to updates but is
there a way to select all tasks instead of having to check each one
individually? Is there another way this can be done. The PM wants the
schedule to still be viewed through PWA but no updates to be allowed. I
found other help topics here that suggested adding a project status field and
training the user to not update closed tasks - is there not a way to prevent
users from updating? Thanks.

One option would be to open the Project and make all the resources on the
Project to "Proposed". This will not make any changes to Schedule, and
resources will not be able to book time against these tasks, as their booking
type is Proposed.

1) Open Project in Project Professional
2) Open Build Team (CTRL+T)
3) Change Resource booking type to Proposed for all resources.

Hope this helps.

Thanks - I tried it and maybe I'm missing something. We run in the same
problem where you have to go to each resource and change the booking type or
am I missing a shortcut?

Let me challenge your organization's process in closing projects to updates.
Why aren't your PM's closing tasks to updates whenever each task is actually
completed? This would be beneficial, as it would prevent team members from
booking time against completed tasks, and would make for less work at the
end of the project. As you have already discovered, there is no way to
select all tasks in a single operation.

Also, the solution posted by Kishore won't work in Project Server 2007.
Setting the Booking type to Proposed in 2007 does not work correctly due to
a bug. Hope this helps.
