I have a large Excel file on our intranet server that employees access
regularly. I have a handful of users that are complaining about poor
performance lately. After investigating, I found that when the file is
opened through IE, then closed, the EXCEL.EXE process fails to
terminate and will then spike to near 100% CPU utilization. This brings
the box to its knees. After killing the process in TaskMan, all is
good. The specs are:
Excel XP
IE 6.1, fully patched
Win2K, SP4, fully patched
Thanks in advance for the great feedback!
