Closing Outlook to taskbar

Is there a way to get Outlook 2007 to close down with out shutting it down
completely. So it remains open an maybe an icon in the taskbar?

It takes along time for emails to download using outlook connector and i
would rather have outlook constantly scanning in hte back ground. Like
windows live mail.

The only reason i use Outlook over live mail is for my work.

Is there a way to do this?

Right click the Outlook icon that is in the task tray while outlook is running
and make sure that there is a checkmark next to 'Hide when minimized'.

Then, just minimize Outlook.

Yep, Start Outlook 2007 and then right click on the Outlook icon right next
to the clock in the lower right hand of your screen. There is an option to
hide when minimized. From here on out, just minimize the program.
