closing Word

I just bought my computer about a month ago. I put the Microsoft Office on my computer. Everytime I try to close out the Word program, my computer makes an awful sound and error pops up. I have to shut down the computer to make the noise stop. Can someone please tell me what's wrong with it

I can't recall reading about a noise with an error message, but I
guess it could be a result of the same problem that causes the popup.

Exactly what does the error message say? That probably includes a clue
to what the cause is. If you need to pop up the message again to find
out, first turn off the speakers. :)

Even without knowing the message, it's likely you can fix whatever the
problem is. Go through the steps of section 2 at
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProbsOpeningWord.htm. (Don't mind
the talk about 'opening' -- the same steps fix 'closing' problems,
too.)
