Closing Workbook with "X" closes all workbooks...

Confused

In WindowsXP using Office XP, when multiple Excel windows
(workbooks) are open and I close the active workbook
using the "X" in the upper righthand corner, all open
windows (workbooks) open in the group close. Is there a
way to disable/change this feature to close just the
active window (workbook)?

This is not the case with other apps such as Word,
PowerPoint, etc. They close one window at a time using
the "X" feature.

You need to use the other X, which if the window is maximised will be just below
the one you are clicking. This is the close button for the active worksheet.

Thanks for the quick reply. I understand this method of
closing using the smaller "x" instead, but I find it odd
that Excel functions to close all windows when the
larger "X" is used, but the other MS Apps do not. Thanks
again.
