CMYK to PDF with SP1

M

Marcie

I am having the same problem converting a .pub with sp1 into a pdf CMYK
output. I have following everyone's advice that has been listed in previous
threads. Still no luck. If anyone is willing to help, please do, I am under a
tight time constraint and am very discouraged with this product's ability to
produce what I need.

Version 2003?
How large is the file?
I would be happy to convert it for you if we can have the file transmitted.
You will receive Adobe PDF with PDF/X-1a profile ready for the printer.
I could do this tomorrow, saturday (Scandinavian time).

Wow, that's really kind. The file is over 171 mg. My preference would be to
learn how to do this with MS publisher. Either that, or I am going to
purchase Quark or other commerical printing industry standard software.

I have made some progress by following the advice you and Mary have given in
related email threads. I still have another hurdle...something about the
print marks and needed a larger size paper...I'm working though that issue
right now.

Well, 171 MB would be too much to e-mail, so thats not a solution then.
Also given the time I have available (going on vacation sunday morning), it
would be too much.
But if you can wait until after December 11th, lets try to find a solution.
I can tell you one thing, you would most certainly have a much steeper
learning curve with Quark or Adobe CS.

To set a larger paper size (I have Norwegian version installed now, so I am
trying to translate):

Choose File/Print setup
On the printer tab:
Select your printer, and then Preferences.
On the preferences setup tab, choose advanced, and then "Postscript Custom
Page size" for papersize.
Set a paper size appr +1-2 cm larger than yor finished publication on each
side.
OK twice.

On the setup side:
Choose whatever papersize you want the finished print to be.
Set this as a self defined size (like 21x27,9cm for A4).
You should see your finished papersize inside a larger greyish box that
denotes the "paper" used by the printerdriver as set above.

Then on file/print press the "Advanced settings" and select whatever print
marks you want.

You can preview the result in "File/preview".

Please be aware that the button text may differ somewhat. Its not really
easy to convert Norwegian back to English.

Terje
