Code for quick navigation between text, paragraphs? I'll attach any code for this to keys.

I'm tried of Word being so slow to navigate through via keys on
keyboard (I have WP and it's a breeze to do this in it). I need to
get Word up to speed. Can anyone kindly provide code to move between
words without W2K getting hung up on every little space and dash?
also, to quickly move to next or back to previous paragraph (^ down
arrow and ^ up arrow usu work well for this)?

Thanks much.

I also remember many things about WP, fondly. But I'm not sure what
you mean. Are you saying that Ctrl-left and right arrow don't work
for you?

Ctrl-up and down arrow should do what tou want for paragraphs, too.

This information is rather hidden in the Help (at least in Word
2000) but search for "moving", then "moving around in a document".

Yes, they do, but they stop at every @*$#@ hard return code, too!
<lol> I'd like to be able to navigate quickly without stopping at
every hypen, hard return, etc., etc.; to navigate just _between_ text
only. I'm guessing that since you're saying this that there's a
setting we can click on to take the default off? [Ah, just read to
the end of your post. There is the answer!]

[p.s., WP still running strong! I have 10 at home and it's such a
joy. Been using WP since 4.2, a looong time ago ... <g>. Which is
soooo funny - everything about the Office suite is fantastic - except
Word. <sigh> I'm a clerk in the govt and they call upon me, an
advanced operator, to work on any Word doct above simple as it just is
a monster that wrests control from everyone. Styles-driven, rather
than codes-driven - a nightmare for anyone who actually uses the
program to any degree!! <g> Just venting ... everything else about MS
software is fantastic for me. Can't live without Outlook, Excel or
PowerPoint, esp.!]

Oh, well, no wonder I never found it! <g> Thanks, I'll check this
out. This time, I'll use my handy method of doing up a screenshot to
which I add explanatory text and then save to my tips folder which has
a fldr ear-marked for Word!

Thanks!

Of course, it wasn't going to be that simple. <g>

Found the info ou describe, but it's just a description of what the
keyboard combinations do. <sigh> I've been at this a good many years
and I started out before DOS-based wordprocessors, so I'm heavy on the
keyboard and know the commands - though it is neat to have a place to
go where I can print this out for others instead of writing out the
basic ones. Good thing to have, thanks! However, getting back to the
issue, it's exactly this feature which I'm trying to fix. Sorry I
wasn't clear.

Can we get Word 2000 to _just_ jump between text with these very same
commands??? I guess that's what my question should have been.

Specifically, "scroll through a document by using the keyboard", which
leads to "moving the insertion point", all those items listed are
pretty standard in Windows wordprocessing apps. It's just that
different apps seem to move differently. Word and WordPro are
similar, WP jumps more specifically between text and avoids hard
returns, punctuation points, etc., etc. Is there a way to get W2K to
navigate to _only_ text, too? It seems all apps default to a broader
definition of cursor, or as I've learned today, insertion point
movement.

Thanks!

If you can find a way to explain what you mean by "between text" someone
maybe able to help you. Or are you just looking to vent your frustrations?
