Code page problems?

john

My dentist application (www.VisualDentist.com) supports English and
Greek and
recently we bowed to demands from dentists and have included an SMS
sending capability. We are having some problems with reading Greek
from tables.

The software was designed using Access 2003 and the problem arises
when we access the table where the SMS template Greek messages are
stored. The Greek messages can be stored and viewed in the table but
when we try to assign it to a string so that it is sent in the HTTP
request (for triggering the SMS messaging) it is no loger readable. I
tried setting the table parameter Unicode Compression = No, but it
did
not help.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Regards,
John

I don't have a recommendation, but hold off for a while before following
Aaron's "suggestion". It is the only suggestion he ever has, so should be
regarded cautiously at best, particularly since his avowed mission is to
trash Access at every opportunity.

Bruce;

SQL Server solved all my problems-- and that's why I make $100k and
you make $10/hour

Anyone using Jet for any reason-- should be fired and them spit upon.

There are better, easier solutions--
SQL Server means 'write once, run anywhere' because it _WORKS_.

Meanwhile, Jet doesn't even support SMP or X64 (isn't X64 the most
popular flavor of vista now?)

You know nothing about what I earn, and I do not believe you. I can tell
you that I am not afflicted with the anger and bitterness that dog your
steps, and that is worth a great deal.

Anger and bitterness?

you mother fucking cocksuckers follow me around-- tellnig everyone I'm
wrong.. Just because I reccomend SQL.

Meanwhile, you suffer corruption on a daily/weekly/monthly basis and
you explain it away-- as just a fluke.. and explain to your customers
why they lost data.

**** you and your baby-sized database.

Jet isnt' reliable enough for a single record and a single user

Umm, no. We tell people you are wrong because your answers almost always have no
relevance to the question asked..

Wrong. It's been years since my clients have had any corruption.
F*** you and your baby-sized database.

Jet isnt' reliable enough for a single record and a single user

Wrong.

you're right Tony.
I'm wrong-- just because you spent $400/seat for your users to use
Citirx..
and you bought UPS power supplies for all your desktops

and you're right.. SQL Server is 'too complex'

just because you tried a conversion once and it didn't go well-- it's
obviously too difficult for -everyone-.

You're right Tony.

Everyone else on the newsgroup who complains about corruption.. must
be inventing stuff also

I'll keep my interruption of an important debate about Citrix vs. SQL
Server brief.

and you bought UPS power supplies for all your desktops

I recommend UPS power supplies for all business computers. Besides
preventing an abrupt power loss, it regulates the voltage supplied to
the computer. Since a short circuit caused by dust is one of the most
frequest causes of blown out motherboards I also keep my computers on
top of my desks and clean them out regularly with compressed air.
