Collaborate - Update Project Progress Causes Visual Basic Error

Hi

We are using Project Server 2003 with SP3 and are having a problem
with 1 user on 1 machine.
From within the project plan he is unable to Collaborate - Update
Project Progress. Instead he gets a visual basic error "Error
accessing file. Network connection may have been lost."
This problem started happening about 2 weeks ago (around the same time
as an install of XP SP3 - although I am not sure if these are related
as no other user is experiencing any problems).
The user also has a macro that he runs from MSP to produce his status
reports. The macro is still running successfully, but he is unable to
edit the macro with doing an export/import (again this has started in
the last two weeks)
I can open his plan and successfully Collaborate - Update Project
Progress as can other users.
I have looked on various sites for information on this problem but so
far have been unable to find anything which seems to identify this
same issue.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
