Using MS Proj 2003 - tying to add a column (don't know what type I should
select) and color code the fields to indicate (subjectively) if my projects
are red, yellow or green

Hello Holly,

I would use a Text (i.e. Text1 or Text2) field with a list box and then
a graphic indicator to translate the selection from the list box into a
graphic.

Insert the text field of your choice. Then select the column heading
and choose Tools > Customize, Field. Under Custom attributes select the
Value List button and enter the three text values (one per line) Green,
Yellow, Red. Then under Values to display click the Graphical
Indicators button. For each item enter the test "Equals" the value is
the color (Green, yellow, red) and select the appropriate graphic.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
