color of selected cells in excel X for mac

When I select cells in my new version of Excel (on my new Mac), they
are highlighted in this dim pinkish orange color that's very hard to
see. I tried changing the Highlight Color under the Mac's System
Preferences, but this did nothing for Excel. I found where Excel has
moved their Options menu to a Preferences menu, but found no help
there either. Any ideas?

Did you restart Excel after changing the settings? This is the way it works.

Go to system preferences select appearance, select highlight-other
When box appears, slide sliders to a darker colour, Try a dark blue
Quit excel then restart excel Should be working. If not, in the slider box
In system prefs. Select the colour and drag to the top left square
In the box of squares at the bottom.
