I can't help but think that you are scrolling all the way up to the
top to see the headers, and scrolling back to where you were, if
that is the case you can designated rows at the top and at the
left to show as you scroll around. Similar to that to show the
column labels (column headers) at the top of each printed page.

Rowliner is nice but I would never use it myself because when you
use a macro you lose the use of undo (Ctrl+z). So I will point out
that the highlighting on the row header label and the column header
label change when you select a cell(s), and the cell address (or range)
is shown in the address box to the left of the formula bar. This highlighting
is much better in Excel 2000 than in previous versions.
Likewise you can select an entire row to make that row stand out
simply as a selected range.
You were also told how to color cells and ranges.
Another method of coloring is colorbands (like Green Bar computer paper)
created by Conditional Formattingwhich is on another of Chip's pages,
which may be of some help, along these lines though I don't think it is
what you are looking for.
