Our company's corporate Identity allow us to use a total set of 15 defined
colours. These colours is not in the colour palette of ppt. Is there a chance
to recreate the ppt. palette into containing our 15 colours, and no other
colours?

How do i make this happen?

Hi Frode,

which version of PowerPoint do you use? Up to PowerPoint 2003 the number of
colors is limited to 8, in PowerPoint 2007 you can set 10 colors (plus 2 for
Hyperlinks). There is no chance to change this to 15. But in PowerPoint 2007
each of the 10 colors has 5 lighter and darker shades set automatically.

Best regards,
Ute

I use powerpoint 2003.

Meaning I am 7 colours short. Anyhow 8 colours is better than 0.

Looking forward for your reply.

In PowerPoint 2002/2003 you can customize your color palette in Format >
Slide Design > Edit color palette. Since the number of colors you can
customize is limited, you may want to set up two or three schemes: Primary,
Secondary and Tertiary. You'll want to keep text, background and shadows the
same for all schemes.

Delete all other schemes from the palette.

Please note that establishing these scheme will not prevent users from
creating their own colors.

To go along with the good advice Ute and Sandy have provided, this page may
help you better understand how color schemes work:
http://www.echosvoice.com/colorschemes.htm

With PowerPoint 2007, you can also add custom colors to the
fill/outline/font color drop-downs (they show up in a section called,
appropriately enough, "custom colors") by editing the XML of the theme or
template. This might be a way to add the 15 colors and have them always
available, even if they don't affect the various "quick styles" that pick up
their settings from the actual theme color scheme.

Hi Echo,
How do you add the XML to the template to add custom colours to these
dropdowns?
Please let me know how to alter the xml or if there is some useful
information out there regarding this.

You're in luck -- I actually have a tutorial about this. I don't have it
uploaded to my site yet, but if you'll email me with a real email address
for you, I'll send you a preview.

You can mail me at echos at indy dot net.

Hi, I want to add a colour to my palette for all MS Office applications. Can
that be done? We don't use Powerpoint.

You have to edit the XML of the Theme file.

Here are instrux: http://www.echosvoice.com/2007/customcolors1.htm These
colors won't show up in all the color pickers in Excel and Word -- they'll
show up in some, but not all.

Also see http://www.echosvoice.com/2007/addcolorstotheme.htm which is kind
of related.
