Column numbers

My excel columns appear as numbers, no longer A, B, C ,D
etc. but 1,2 3,4.
This appears since I installed Palm desktop software, I
suspect a macro has changed the appearance of Excel.
How to I get columns to display as letters again?

Tools\Options\General Check box R1C1 Reference style must be cleare
