I have a VERY strange problem that's driving me nuts, and I'd be grateful
for any insight. I have a one-page, two-column document, landscape mode.
Columns are equal width, 4.5" wide, 1" space. If I format one line of text
(a one-line paragraph) like a header, e.g. 14point, Bold, Centered, then the
column seems to acquire new internal margins about one inch narrower than
the column width on each side, such that I can fit only a maximum of half a
line's text on a line. Actually, that's not quite right. I get the same
problem if it's left-aligned, but the new "margin" is on the right.
Actually, that's not quite right either. In both cases, I can actually fill
the whole line with text on the screen. It's just that I can't print it. I
get a printer error. If I only have half the line full, it will print.
Adding even one character more causes the printer to crash. Removing the
centering doesn't help. Dropping down to the body text size, 10-point,
clears the problem. Going to 12 point not-bold clears the problem. 14 or
larger, problem. 12-point bold, problem. I've checked every possible odd
setting I could think of and nothing seems to help. Any suggestions or
ideas would be VERY much appreciated. Thanks!
