Combining diacritical Marks in Word

Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Power PC

I am doing poetic analysis and have been able to use the "combining grave accent" from the character palette (unicode 0300), but when I try to use the combining breve (unicode 0306) it doesn't work, I just get a box in the text. I have both Word 2004 and 2008, same thing happens in both. Any ideas?

Not all glyphs are available in all fonts, so that's telling you that the
character can't be displayed because it's currently formatted by a font
which doesn't have it. Select the "box" & change the font to something like
Arial Unicode MS or Lucida Grande & it will display accurately.
