Command Button protection problems????

I have out together a workbook that contains several Command Buttons,
but even though I have unlocked the command button when I protect the
sheet I can't use the button, Excel keeps flashing up an error saying
that it read only. I have been into tools-options and the read only tab
is not checked. What am I doing wrong.

Please help

could you elaberate more, I don't quite understand what you mean,
where did you get the button from??
explain how you created the buttons??

I have used a Command Button from the control toolbox and linked a cell
which gives me a True or False return which I need, but when I protect
the work sheet the Command Button won't work. I get a message to
un-protect the workbook before I can use it. I have been into the
properties of the button and unlocked it, I just can't understand why
It will not let me use it.
