I noticed that comments I insert into a cell do not get saved. I've made sure to manually save the document after inserting comments, but the comments are not there next time I open the spreadsheet. Thanks for your help.

Are you sure you are saving the document as an Excel workbook? If the
document was originally a text file, saving it will keep it a text file
which can not contain comments.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I save it as an Excel 97-2004 document, not a text file. This particular document is one that I've used for a long time and update regularly, in fact I've been using the document prior to buying a Mac and installing Office for Mac. Previous comments are still there, but newly inserted comments will not save.

I solved the problem by saving the document with another name (same format). Now the comments save.
