I have a sheet that I want to protect but leave a few columns unprotected.
When I do this I cannot add or edit comments. If I uncheck comments from the
protection options the whole sheet is unprotected. Is there a way to protect
the sheet but have unlocked cells that I can add comments to?

Nevermind I just inverted the checkmarks now it works (the only thing
checked is comments witch is reverse logic)

Start with the sheet in Unprotected mode.
Select the cells that you want to have unlocked.
Go to the Format menu and choose Cells.
You will see a Protection Tab(far right), click on it.
There is a Locked check box, clear it (no check mark).
Go to the Tools menu and Protect the sheet.
You will be able to enter data in the cells you unlocked.

Good luck.
