I pop my mail from an account (on, say, a.com) which receives mail for
multiple addresses (call them (e-mail address removed) and (e-mail address removed))
Currently, I filter these into 2 different inbox-type folders with 2 simple
rules using the "sent to" field.
I'd like to separate them a bit more. For replies to messages sent to
a.com, I'd like to have an appropriate signature and From field. I can use
the smtp server for a.com. Same thing for b.com. This way i don't send
mail to my b.com buddies with an address that looks like:
"Evanda [[email protected]]; on behalf of; (e-mail address removed)"
which is what outlook seems to display if you write in your own fake "From:"
header field.
Here are the possibilities as I see them:
1. You can somehow associate a different signature, legitimate "From:"
header field, and smtp server with replies to mail in a particular inbox
folder. This'd be great, but i doubt it's possible.
2. You need to have 2 separate profiles, one for each company, and you can
use a rule to filter mail from one pop account into appropriate inbox
folders in either profile. (i.e. have mail to (e-mail address removed) go to an inbox
in profile A, (e-mail address removed) mail goes to an inbox in profile B).
2.i. Is it possible to have the profiles share all my calendar and
contact information? While it's not as important to share the contacts, it
would be nice to share the calendar so i don't double-book my time.
2.ii. Can i somehow get notification that mail has arrived in either
profile? (i.e. Get a *ding* or something when mail arrives for the folder
in profile B, even though profile A is open?)
2.iii. Is there a better way to switch between profiles than to quit
and have Outlook to prompt me when it starts for a profile? That seems
kinda dumb.
3. What you ask is impossible with outlook. Separate the accounts and
check them separately. (I prefer not to do this, but it's your easiest
answer
). Even then, you will still need separate profiles and you will
never get your calendar shared between them. Muahahahahah.
Vital Stats:
Outlook 2002 (10.2627.2625)
Windows XP Pro v2002, Service Pack 2.
Thanks,
