Compact On Close

I've just set the 'Compact on Close' option on the 'General' tab of the
'Options' window. When I exit Access, sure enough it compacts whatever
database I have open.

Next, since I really didn't want to do this each and every time I close my
work, I cleared the checkbox for 'Compact on Close'. Access STILL compacts
the MDB when I close Access... is this a known bug in Access or am I
experiencing something else?

Stupid me for trying something I guess...
