Compact & Repair Error "No Read Permission..."

When I try to Compact and Repair in Access97 I receive the following error
“Record(s) can’t be read; no read permission on C:\Ipayv3.mdbâ€. This
database was created in Access97 but I have recently tried to open it with
Access 2007 to take advantage of it’s new features. I have done this before,
but with Access 2000 and I was still able to compact and repair in Access97.
I tried it in 2000 and 2007 but I also experience errors. Can anyone please
help?

Thanks Stockwell43, but I don’t think that’s it because my database was not
deleted; in fact I can still open and use it without any problem. I just
can’t compact and repair.

I know, but the reason for the link was to show you there are some glitches
with 2007 compact and repair. If it were me and you couldn't get any answers
from here, I would contact Microsoft and make as many screenshots as you can
about the problem.

I hear 2007 is really nice but also much different from the past offices.
I'm just too lazy to re-learn at the moment.)

Hope you get your problem solve.

Keensie,

I was just thinking, could it possible the database is corrupt? Just for
kicks and giggles, try creating a new shell in 2007 an import everything form
the database you were trying to open in 97; sometimes that works.

Thanks Stockwell43, it was corrupted and I did try what I suggested and it
worked, I had a few hurdles to overcome but eventually I was able to compact
and repair. Thanks again!
