Compacting and repairing a database

Hi all,
One of my users wanted to do a compact and repair on a database after hours.
I wanted to know if I should let her do it or insist on doing it myself as a
sysadmin.

How much do you trust this user?
How much do you value the data?
How good are your backup policies - and how good is their
implementation?
Do you know more than the user does about Access, or does the user
know more than you do? (no offense intended, either scenario is quite
reasonable)
