compacting files

Even after emptying the Deleted Items folder in my Outlook.pst file, after compacting the file is over 8 MB. Using properties, it shows that the folders are only 2.5 MB in size.

My other pst files reduce substantially in size after compacting, but only the Main file does not.

Any one know of way to reduce the size of the outlook.pst file further?

There is some overhead included to the file to function properly. If you
really want to win another 5MB then you should create a new pst-file and
move all your mail to the new pst-file.
