When I attempt to compare two versions of a project I get the following errors:
Run Time error 1101
Compare Projects Versions error 440
and wont compare the versions.
Any help will be appreciated

Dayle,
There have been various issues with the compare utility over the years.
A couple of things that can cause problems are replicated fields in the
view table (e.g. the Duration field displayed in more than one column in
the view), and a vastly changed indenture structure (e.g. the original
file has no indentures but the updated file does).

Of course, the two files being compares must be genetically related,
that is, the second file must be an updated version of the first file.
The compare will not work if the updated version has been rebuilt such
that the unique IDs were reset.

Unfortunately, Microsoft has not provided anything thus far that will
help us shed some light on issues with the compare utility. I have
requested that information and my request in in process.

Meanwhile, if you are able to e-mail me your files, I can take a look
and see if anything obvious shows up. I will ask some questions. My

Thanks for the insight – unfortunately, I cannot send the files. I have
checked the things you noted plus those on other post with no luck. I made a
new 10-line schedule and saved it. Added 10 more lines and saved as an
update, created a new table just for name, dur, start and finish – have the
same error codes.

Dayle,
I understand that you cannot send your files. However, can you replicate
the basic structure in a couple of sample files and send those? If you
cannot send the files due to sensitive data, I can supply you with a
macro that will desensitize the files, or you can get a similar macro on
fellow MVP, Jack Dahlgren's website at:
http://masamiki.com/project/macros.htm. Jack's macro is called "scrub".

Another poster sent me a pair of sample files that fail when using the
compare utility a few months ago so I have at least one simple test case
should I ever get more insight into the actual code behind the utility.
A second test case would be even better, and who knows, maybe I'll see
something in your sample that can help. Just another thought.
