Comparing Two Spreadsheets

I'd like to be able to compare the contents of two spreadsheets to ensure
they're exactly the same. Ideally I'd be able to compare the formulas
themselves, but just checking the data in each cell would be sufficient for
now. (I.e., would like to see a difference between cells containing 5*6 and
10*3, even though data in each cell will just show 30).

I see one post on this board (from 2007) regarding an add-in called XL
Companion, but the link isn't active and I can't find it online with a quick
search. There are other add-ins available, such as Compare Spreadsheets.

Anyone have experience with Compare Spreadsheets or other add-ins that can
do this? Or any other suggestions? I'm wary of buying software online just
based on a company website...

Thanks,
Jen

Thanks Chip - I'm not immediately able to open it as my work system disables
the macros. Will speak with my IT person. Is this a free add-in?

Thanks Jim - is there a website for this product? What is the full pricing if
we decided to go ahead and buy?

Hello Jen,
My website owner had severe problems about 1 1/2 years ago. I didn't stay with them.
I didn't have enough interest to put up a new website - am thinking about trying it again.

The price of XL Companion (Excel add-in) is $39.00 and includes separate utilities to...
1. Compare worksheets and lists cell by cell or worksheets row by row or match two lists.
2. Find multiple items over multiple worksheets.
3. Count duplicates or list them.
4. Remove duplicate rows or list duplicate rows.
5. Delete rows meeting your criteria
6. Clean your data.

Note: when comparing, you have the option to specify the type of comparison.
The default is all differences, but you can, for instance, compare cells where the numeric
difference is greater than "x" or compare only cells containing text or dates or formulas (and
others).
Most of those, who I have got to try it, have liked it.

Get the (free) 3 week trial of the full version of XL Companion by emailing ...

No registration is required.
