Compatibility of dates originally entered on another worksheet

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) When pasting a column of dates from one to another of very similar worksheet documents (both created originally on a PC) one worksheet subtracts 4 years plus one day from each date pasted. Is there a setting I can change to avoid recreating the entire worksheet on my MAC?
