Hi Micheal,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Well there's a novelty! :) It all depends on how much time and cash you have
to spare. You could start with all the advice and procedural help given in
the Help screens. You could read in-depth publications such as the Que
books referenced in our FAQs. I would start with learning the basics of
Project first before delving into the intricacies of the Professioinal and
Enterprise version. If you're in a hurry I would thoroughly recommend
taking at least an introductory course to get a thorough understanding of
how Project is designed to work. It is also essential to learn about
Project Management, as Project is only a tool to help you manage projects,
it does not make you a project manager. :) For simple tutorials, you could
have a look at my articles in the TechTrax ezine, referenced in my signature
block below. However, it's not a quick and easy subject to study. I still
do not have a "complete information and indepth knowledge" of Project
Standard with which I've been involved with for over 10 years! Ayway - good
luck! :)

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

I agree with everything Mike says above. I'd add that a good
understanding of Critical Path Method scheduling (the basis of nearly
everything Project does) would be a good starting point for better
applying this tool. When I teach my 2 day Intro to Project, the first
half day is CPM theory, no direct use of the computer at all. I
frequently get feedback from experienced users (often very frustrated
after trying to figure out Project for months or even years) that this
alone answered at least half of the questions they had regarding
Project.
Hope this helps in your world.
