% complete and % physical complete what is the difference

Hi
What is the difference between % complete and % physical complete (in the
additional properties of task).
And how can I see formula which are used to calculate the percent of task
completness?
We have the following situation:
we have task with fixed duration and two peoples for this task. Duration 1
week (40 hours for each person), assumed beginning is Monday (8.01). But
first person began work at Friday (5.01), worked 10 hours. Second have worked
10 hours at Thursday (4.01). When we look at task completness for each person
we see - 25%/
But when we go tj the Project centre ant see the total completness we see -
27%.
What is the reason.
I try to understand this calculations, but I can't recieve the same figure
(27%) on paper.
Thank in advance

% Complete is actually the % Duration Complete field and measures the
percentage of the Duration "used up" during the last reporting period. The
software calculates the % Complete value as follows:

% Complete = Actual Duration/Duration

Physical % Complete is a value that you must enter that represents the
physical amount of work performed. For example, you have 50 miles of road
to pave and you have physically completed 5 miles of paving so far.
Therefore, you would manually enter 10% in the Physical Complete field.

The field I think you need to look at is the % Work Complete field, which
measures the percentage of work performed to date, and is calculated as:

% Work Complete = Actual Work/Work

Hope this helps.

Dale,
now I can't understand a meaning Actual Duration in my example:

"we have task with fixed duration and two peoples for this task. Duration 1
week (40 hours for each person), assumed beginning is Monday (8.01). But
first person began work at Friday (5.01), worked 10 hours. Second have worked
10 hours at Thursday (4.01)."

According to the projects calculations Duration is 5,75 days (here is
everything clear), % complete is 27 % (Project calculated this meaning
itself), then according to the formula % complete = Actual Duration/Duration,
I have calculated the meaning of Actual Duration as % complete*Duration and
recieved 1,56 days. But resources have already worked during 2 days.
How could be recieved this 1.56? I'm wondering.

Your team member needs to enter 0 hours of Actual Work on Friday, assuming
he/she did no actual work that day. If he/she does so, the Actual Duration
will show 2 days. Remind your people to enter a 0 on any days in which they
performed no actual work on a task they have already started. Hope this
helps.

Microsoft Project is not an intuitive application, that is for sure. If
there is any way that your company could include training money in your
Project Server rollout budget, you might want to consider contacting us to
do some training for you and your people. We have found that training
eliminates many of the problems that you have had with Microsoft Project and
Project Server. Training can save you a great deal of frustration with the
software and make you more productive along the way. Hope this helps.
