% Complete doesn't update server and vise-v ersa

I either don't understand something or I have something
mis-configured in my PJ2003 server.

If I update the % Complete for a task in a project using
Project 2003 Pro and save it to the project server, then I
go look at that same task in Project Web Access, it
doesn't show the % Complete update I did in Proj Pro.

Likewise, if I update a % Complete in Project Web Access,
Approve it, then go look at that same task in Project 2003
Pro, it doesn't show the update there.

It's almost like the % Complete in Project Server and the
% Complete in the individual Project are different fields
that have nothing to do with one another.

I've tried both the % Complete and the % Work Complete
with the same results.

What am I doing wrong?

Before you do anything else, please make sure you have the following setting
enabled:

1. Click Tools - Options
2. Select the Calculation tab
3. Make sure that the "Updating task status updates resource status" option
is selected
4. Click OK

Assuming you have that option selected, here's what else you need to know.
When you update the % Complete in the actual project plan in Microsoft
Project, and then save the plan, you must also republish the impacted
assignments. To do this, click Collaborate - Publish - Republish
Assignments. In the dialog box, select the "Overwrite actual work entered by
resources" option and then click OK. Doing so will "push" your updated task
and assignment information to each user's timesheets in PWA.

The % Complete field in PWA is NOT the same as the % Complete field in
Microsoft Project. The field you can see on the timesheet in PWA is
actually the % Work Complete field. If you want the % Work Complete field
in PWA to update the % Complete field in the project plan, you must have the
"Updating task status updates resource status" option selected on the
Calculations tab of the project Options. That is why I asked you to
complete the above four steps. Hope this helps.

Dale,

Thanks for the resopnse. I checked the options and
the "Updating task status updates resource status" option
is set by default. That's good. I have never tried the
Republish Assignments though. I (apparently wrongly)
assumed that when you saved a project back to the server
it took care of all that stuff. Let me give it a try and
see if it gets me where I want to be.

Thanks.
