%Complete Not Calculated

I was hoping that someone could help me with an odd
problem.

We are running Project Pro 2002 and Project Srv 2002.

Internally we have created some fairly simple templates to
be used for new projects.

In addition, we have decided to only use the Actual Work &
Remaining Work options for our time tracking.

We have noticed that if a project manager creates a new
project based on one of our templates and then publishes
the assignments, when the resource submits their work, the
%complete value is not calculated and if they happen to
record all the work creating a completed task then the
Actual Finish date is not generated. Actual Cost and
Actual Work are properly calculated, but %complete is
not. When a user looks at the details of a task then the
remaining work is 0.

If this entire scenerio is recreated using a brand new
blank project, not based on a template, then everything is
calculated as it should be?

Has anyone seen this or does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Emily

Create a new project from your template, then click Tools - Options and
select the Calculation tab. Is the option "Updating task status updates
resources status" checked? If not, it should be, as this would likely be
the source of your problem. To fix the problem permanently, you will need
to do the following:

1. Create a new project from the template
2. Select the "Updating Task Status..." option in Tools - Options -
Calculation
3. Save this template as an .mpp or .mpt file
4. Have your Project Server administrator delete the old template from the
Project Server database
5. Import the new improved template to the database as an enterprise
template (Tools - Enterprise Options - Import Project to Enterprise)

Hope this helps.
